Personal Training
Wellness Academy USA Personal Training Program – is based on evolutionary biology, humans primarily evolved to perform functional & adaptive physical activities like long-distance walking, running, climbing, carrying heavy objects, throwing projectiles, and digging. All of these are crucial for hunting and gathering food in their ancestral environments. These activities are considered adaptive as they provided a survival advantage in terms of acquiring year-round sustenance and evading predators.
Wellness Academy USA Personal Training Program offers a range of functional & adaptive personalized physical activity training sessions designed to cater to various health conditions and preferences. This includes dynamic stretching; cardiorespiratory conditioning; strength training; microcirculation therapy; balance training, ongoing biomarker remote monitoring and specialized sessions for musculoskeletal joint pain degeneration from arthritis by improving microcirculation throughout the entire body.
Personal Training services are available on San Diego’s Coronado Island, Marina District, Little Italy, Solana Beach and Rancho Santa Fe communities. There are options for either in-person, at-home, and/or remote training through online secure video conferencing. We are medically supervised, and results driven.

We employ an evidence-based approach to weight loss, and utilize dynamic stretching, cardiorespiratory conditioning, and strength training to improve health outcomes. Our lifestyle wellness services also reduce musculoskeletal, joint pain & inflammation, and increase bone density through a personalized suite of concierge services to include nutrition intervention.
Health History Assessment
Wellness Academy USA wellness services begin with health history assessments for – medical health, nutrition, physical activity, sleep, and positive mindset (stress). We look at blood chemistry profiles, heavy metal tests, conduct anthropometric measurements to get a close look at an individuals physiology to quantify health results. Our objective is to measurably improve flexibility, cardiorespiratory conditioning, strength, and to reduce chronic metabolic disease risk, (arthritis, bone loss, heart disease, type II diabetes, obesity, and cognitive loss).
We measure and quantify our program through the following biomarkers/biometrics: 1) total cholesterol; 2) triglycerides; 3) HDL/LDL ratio; 4) blood sugar AIC levels, 5) weight/BMI/waist circumference risk; 6) blood pressure; 7) waist-to-hip ratio; 8) physical activity levels by tracking daily steps; 9) sustained high-quality sleep; and 10) positive mindset (via happiness index).
Dynamic Stretching
Wellness Academy USA engages in low-intensity dynamic stretching to increase flexibility, to reduce the risk of injury, loss of mobility, muscle stabilization, and to improve muscle imbalances. This includes movements to lengthen muscles and improve joint strength.
Humans are designed to run, walk, sprint, rotate, hold, climb, pull, push, throw, balance and carry. This is especially true later in life to facilitate longevity, vitality and bone health. We are here to help you live the longest and healthiest life possible.
We do most, if not all of our physical activities outdoors in parks, on ocean beaches, and urban settings.
Cardiorespiratory Conditioning
Wellness Academy USA improves cardiorespiratory conditioning & endurance through a variety of physical activities including gait speed walking, light jogging & sprinting on grass, swimming, cycling, and cardiorespiratory strength training.
Humans evolved to cover great distances daily, and use their muscles groups quite vigorously, “survival of the fittest,” literally. Our board certified health & wellness coaches work with with you literally every step of the way utilizing beautiful parks, beaches, and urban settings to teaching how how to move, rehabilitate, and strengthen the body naturally.
Physical Activity Strength Training
Wellness Academy USA utilize functional & adaptive physical activities to train clients two, three, or five-times-a-week, with each session lasting on average 90 minutes. Our goals are to improve dynamic stretching, cardiorespiratory conditioning, strength, and to reduce musculoskeletal pain & inflammation.
This starts with natural, whole-body weight movements outdoors in fabulous park, beachfront or home settings. We use dynamic stretching, hanging, pulling, arching, pushing, pull-ups, static holds, throwing/catching balls for cross-brain cognitive training, balancing activities, swimming, and targeted core area workouts.
Our objective is to develop more flexibility and stronger muscles, bones, tendons, and ligaments, which enables individuals to engage in sustained physical and cardiorespiratory conditioning activities, increasing range of motion over distance.
All physical activities are based upon developing long-term capacity, meaning you are trained at your current ability and progress slowly and steadily from there.
Gait Speeed Walking
Gait speed is a measure of how long it takes someone to walk a short distance on a flat surface. It’s a test of functional mobility, or a person’s ability to move around independently and safely. Gait speed is calculated by dividing the distance walked by the time it took to walk that distance and is reported in meters per second (m/s).
One’s “gait” is the way in which you walk. While everyone’s gait differs, you may develop an abnormal gait due to illness, injury, genetics, or issues with your legs or feet. Abnormal gaits are characterized by irregular movements such as dragging your feet, waddling or crossing your legs as you walk.
Your walking speed can also be an indicator of your health. In fact, it’s gaining traction as one of your “vital signs,” along with body temperature, pulse rate, respiration rate, blood pressure and oxygen saturation. Vital signs provide critical information to assess and predict your health, and to allow proactive intervention to keep you as safe and healthy as possible.
Inflammation, Pain & Stress Reduction
The mechanism by which the body responds to triggers and initiates the “self-healing processes” is complex. There are five body networks or processes that are thought to be integral: 1) the nervous system; 2) microcirculation; 3) immune modulation; 4) muscular relaxation/contraction; and 5) psychological balance.
Wellness Academy USA uses an integrative approach to improving inflammation and joint pain through nutritional/dietary modification; postural/muscular training exercises; cognitive behavioral mind/body techniques; and improving microcirculation through daily movement.
Microcirculation & The Aging Process
Every cell in our body requires a continuous supply of oxygen in order to function properly. This oxygen enters the body through the lungs, goes straight to the heart, and then gets delivered around the body through the bloodstream. This system works flawlessly, until we start getting older. As we age, circulation becomes compromised and it gets harder for the heart to deliver sufficient amounts of oxygen and nutrition. In addition, there is a decline in the removal of carbon dioxide, cellular debris, inflammation, and toxins- further compounding the problem.
The statistics show that by the time you’re 20 years old, you’ve already lost 40% of the microcirculation to the skin. So by the time a person’s 40 years of age, there’s nearly 80% chance of having compromised microcirculation and inflammation throughout the body. This can show up as problems with digestion, sleep, energy, mental clarity, fine lines/wrinkles, thinning/greying of the hair, etc.
Our health wellness coaches have the experience to help improve microcirculation, and reduce pain associated with the aging process.
